FORT MYERS -- The Red Sox scored both their runs in the seventh inning to take a 2-1 decision over the Pirates at the Red Sox Complex on Wednesday.
The tying run came in on a bases-loaded walk, then the go-ahead run scored on an error.
Oscar Tejada was 3-for-4 for the Red Sox, while Emmanuel Solano was 2-for-3.
The Pirates scored in the second inning on a RBI double by Daniel Bomback.
Winning pitcher Pedro Perez allowed one hit over four scoreless innings. Ryne Miller pitched the ninth inning for a save.
Also in Fort Myers, Alexis Oliveras had a triple and a double, scored a run and drove in another as the Reds beat the first-place Twins 6-1 at the Lee County Complex.
The loss dropped the Twins' Southern Division lead over the runner-up Orioles to one game. The season ends Aug. 27.
After the Twins took a 1-0 lead in the first, Oliveras gave the Reds a tie with a two-out RBI double in the second inning.
Anthony Brown's one-out, two-run home run in the third inning put the Reds ahead to stay. It was Brown's sixth homer.
