STAFF REPORT

SARASOTA -- Tzu-Kai Chiu allowed four hits in six innings to lead the Reds to a 3-1 Gulf Coast League win over the Twins on Friday at the City of Sarasota Complex.

Chiu walked none and struck out five. Josh Beal pitched a hitless ninth inning for a save, ending the Reds' nine-game losing streak.

José Bastardo doubled and later scored on a wild pitch to break a 1-all tie in the fifth. He tripled home a run in the sixth.

At Pirate City in Bradenton, the Red Sox made the most of two big innings in a 6-5 win over the Pirates.

In the first, Che-Husan Lin hit a leadoff triple and scored on Mitch Dening's single. Luis Sumoza added a two-run double. Three errors led to three Red Sox runs in the seventh.

Tom Hagan was 2-for-3 and Yonelvy Canal homered for the Pirates.
