Red Sox win on Sumoza's hit

SARASOTA -- Luis Sumoza's two-run double broke a tie in the ninth inning as the Red Sox beat the Reds 7-5 Friday at Ed Smith Stadium.
Sumoza's one-out hit made a winner of Armando Zirpa, who threw three perfect innings in relief. Oscar Tejeda went 4-for-5 and Ricardo Burgos homered for the Red Sox.
Devin Mesoraco, the Reds' first-round pick in the June draft, went 2-for-4 including a one-out home run in the sixth. José Bastardo hit a two-run homer in the third.
At Twin Lakes Park, Calvin Lester singled home the winner with two out in the ninth inning as the Orioles beat the Pirates 4-3.
The Pirates' Ciro Rosero tied it at 3 with a leadoff homer in the top of the ninth.
Melvin Mora, on a rehab assignment for the O's, went 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a three-run first. Elvin Polanco added a single and double.
